The work

I take on four or five commissions a year, and I do the whole thing: the pictures, the type, the paper. Here are the ones I'd do again tomorrow.

Salt & Ash

A 212-page photobook about the women who still harvest salt by hand on the Tagus estuary.

Three winters, eleven families, 1,400 frames on Tri-X. The book is sequenced like a tide table: the pictures thin out toward the centre spread, then crowd back in.

  • Uncoated Munken Pure stock so the blacks stay soft and slightly grey.
  • A hand-pulled risograph cover in two inks, each copy a little different.
  • First edition of 600 sold out in nine weeks; second printing is due spring 2027.

Linha 28

An identity for a heritage tram line that has to work on enamel, paper tickets and a 4-inch phone screen.

The brief asked for "nostalgia, but not a souvenir shop". The answer was a single shape — the curve of the rail as it bends up Rua da Graça — repeated at every scale.

  • 38 ticket variants generated from one rule set.
  • Two colours only: tram red and the cream of old enamel signs.
  • Rolled out across 46 stops in under five months.

Ferro Cerâmica

Product photography and a quiet visual language for a one-man stoneware studio in Caldas da Rainha.

Rui's pots are the colour of the walls they're made against, so we shot them there. One wall, one window, one lens — the restraint became the brand.

  • 74 products photographed across four sessions, all in available light.
  • Online orders up 2.3× in the first quarter after relaunch.

An Atlas of Small Weather

A risograph poster series and microsite charting the micro-climates of a single Lisbon street.

For 31 days I logged wind, shade and temperature at nine doorways on Rua dos Remédios. The posters translate those logs into drifting red contour lines.

  • Nine posters, two inks, an edition of 120 each.
  • The microsite redraws the map live from the original spreadsheet.
